We’re doing some optimizing, to try to get the forum to speed up a little (it’s been a little doggy at times). the problem seems to (most likely) be confined to the search utility, so we’re putting a new search module in. we’re going to do this around 5PM or 6PM pacific time, maybe just when you’re supposed to be doing your master’s swim anyway.

How dare you try to solve a problem by putting in a new search engine. Throw more money at the problem. Bigger servers, more servers!

Out of curiousity what type of database is running in the background? Is the DB server big enough? If the new module doesn’t help, depending on the DB type and other options you could look into converting to a master R/W database, with children that have read only copies… Could also convert some tables to heap tables and commit them to disc occasionally…
Edit: Another curiousity question - what forum software is this, I can’t seem to find any branding for it?
