i checked on the forum’s admin page, and we hosted over a thousand posts yesterday. it’s been pretty busy here lately, and we’re averaging about a thousand posts a day—excluding weekends, when the traffic drops quite a bit—and that’s up from 700 posts a day a year ago. i guess i’m not surprised at this since i’ve seen a lot of new screen names lately (welcome, newcomers, to our family).
we don’t have a FAQ, but we do have rules. i occasionally reacquaint people with them from time to time, and this seems an appropriate time.

if it’s off-topic, it goes in tibbs’ lavender room, our forum for whatever the hell it is you want to rant about (cousin elwood is our resident republican over there, except when rush is holed up in a motel room after a hard weekend and needs someone to sit in until he’s no longer cross-eyed).

classifieds go in the classifieds forum.

no trial by internet if it involves a tri-specific vendor. if you want to trash general motors, fine. but if it’s a manufacturer, race director, or retailer who risks all to provide you with goods or services, no dice. not here. if you want to be tactical and post something that will not get pulled by me, then be tactful and respectful in your comments.

you cannot say that a product is unsafe based on anecdotes. if you do you will have your post pulled, and in the end you’ll be glad it’s pulled—in your zeal to broadcast your “news” you’re very likely to set yourself up for a nice-sized lawsuit brought your way by the manufacturer.
otherwise, there is almost no tampering with this forum by its administrators. if you see an off-topic thread that is mysteriously missing, not to worry, you’ll find it in the lavender room. excepting the rules above, a posts gets pulled at the rate of about 1 every 100,000. so, it’s pretty censor free here. (that doesn’t mean you’ll get gentle treatment.)
