What are people referring to when they talk about the “rake” and “trail” for a fork?

Cerveloguy’s link does a very good job of explaining rake and trail. Maybe this will help, too: Rake is a geometric description pertaining to the fork, Trail is a description of the relationship of the fork rake, AND headtube angle, AND wheel radius.
For me, it is counterintuitive…increase the rake and you decrease the trail, but the pictures help it to make sense.
