Fork for 2003 Cervelo P3?

hey folks…

i picked up my P3 the other day (2003 model / all grey) and i noticed that the fork the LBS supplied was not the deep bladed airfoil type fork. instead, it looked like a fork from cervelo’s road line of bikes… the fork blade was only 1 1/4" at the drop outs, and not even 2" towards the crown.

the shop said it was the standard chord fork, but i see that name attached to both wide and narrow forks. anyone know which is the real chord and whether i should have been given a deep-bladed fork?

thanks…

Well, I can tell you the P3’s we’ve received have had a bladed, deep section fork in natural carbon with a white “Cervelo” decal on them. I think these forks are made by a company called Kinesis and they were first introduced as the Quintana Roo Carbonaero a number of years ago.

Now, you may have some type of running change, or the bike shop took it upon themselves to make a running change. Either way, it is slightly different than what I’m accustomed to.

I have a chord fork on my Cervelo One, and I think it’s the same model than those delivered with P3s.

That fork had a “advanced” label on the steerer tube, which indicates that it was manufactured by Advanced International Multitech Co. I suppose.

Just my .02

that’s what i thought… i have yet to see a P3 with the narrow fork. the kinesis airfoil type fork is what i’ve typically seen.

i’m thinking of upgrading anyhow, so it may be a moot point. but i’d be less inclined to upgrade if i had the airfoil…
