I read on a review for the new 310 that the older strap is not waterproof. I thought is was just the unit itself? Insights?
I swim in mine all the time. Including yesterday in the New Orleans 70.3. It has never failed me.
Yeah tons of OWS in mine, saltwater mainly some freshwater. No problems with HR strap for my 305.
The amount of sweat the monitor puts up with, probably prefer to be submerged - ew.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the display so that the Heartrate is easier to read?
That 1 point font in the top right corner is too tiny for my old eyes.
Customize one of the screens to show HR in a data field. You could even set one screen to have only HR on the whole screen. Much bigger and easier to read!

It’s surely a moot point anyway as the FR305 is not ‘supposed’ to be suitable for swimming. No problems with the strap in the rain or with copious amounts of sweat, but never swam with it.
My thought was if I swam with the strap on during a race, it is one less thing to deal with in transition. Then, put the FR on in T1 or have it mounted to the bike. I am thinking maybe I shouldn’t race with it, though, if the water will compromise the HR strap’s functioning.
My mistake RTFP!! Been using a FR 305 for nigh on 3 years now and have always put the HR strap on under the wetsuit for the swim. It’s perfectly fine to do that - well we’ve never had any problems.
Sorry, initial thought was that you were referring to the watch band…ooops!!
