Foreclosures - Our liberals are conservative

We’re #1 (Vermont). Lowest that is.

2007-61
2008-124
2009-1

The next closest state (ND) had 3X more in 2008. From what I have read in the local fish wrapper, we have had no predatory lending, foreclosures have been relatively flat when compared to past years and are attributable to job loss, health care and divorce…

California had 7800X more foreclosures and less than 60X more people

Florida had 4600X more foreclosures and less than 30X more people

Hey, for once, South Carolina isn’t at the business end of a national ranking!

I suppose there is something to be said for living in dilapidated single-wide trailers after all.

OMG is that right!? California in 2007-2008 had 1.319 MILLION foreclosures? What’s that, 1 out every 5 homes in 2 years or something? What is the foreclosure rate there right now?

No idea on the rate, but I would guess that they must have between 10M and 20M homes, so if you said 13.19M it would be 10%. I think conservatively, we would have 176K homes which would make our rate 0.1% or so (our population is 600+K and there are a lot of 2nd homes).

Its interesting, when our local media reported that we had no sub-prime lending in the state, I said to myself “BS”, but it looks like, if there was any, it was minimal!

In my area of CA there are people giving up on mortgages in the $100,000’s. I think we have a lot of Mexican’s moving back to Mexico.
