Just curious… after looking through the various Ironman websites, it looks like Ford is no longer the major sponsor for CDL and Wisconsin… maybe others, but is still listed as the major sponsor on Placid. Those are the only 3 I looked at. Any word on who the major sponsor is / will be of those events if not Ford? This may have happened a long time ago and I’m just now noticing. I did a search of the forums, but came up empty.
Ford was everywhere at IMOO this year, and Riley mentioned how much Ford loves the sponsorship at the banquet…
It is Ford Ironman Louisville. But it is basically a race by race deal. For instance, it is Subaru Ironman Canada. The IM 70.3 has lots more title sponsors of that series. They are usually geographic based for the 70.3s.
That is interesting. In the past, the front page said “Ford Ironman Wisconsin.” Now, the “Ford” is gone. But, if you go to the sponsors link, it lists Ford as the “Title Sponsor.” I dunno, but, I would guess it is a website design issue and “Ford” will be back up. Just a guess though.
It’s got to be a website design thing. I just looked at IMLou and it is the same as IMWI. Ford is still listed as the “Title Sponsor” but there is no “Ford” in the race logo. Maybe they are creating a new logo?

No, it’s not a race by race deal, Ford signed up for the US Ironman sponsorship, including Kona/World Championship, has been the title sponsor since 2005. The extension was signed in 2009, going to the end of 2011… I’m not sure if it’s been renewed yet, the Marketing department is still in Business Planning for next yr / beyond. Maybe it’s posturing by the WTC…taking logos off randomly, who knows. If you look at the list of events, Ford is absent from Placid for 2012, yet on the placid site, they’re still there… wouldn’t surprise me if they haven’t finalized it, so they’re putting pressure on…
Ford doesn’t sponsor the 70.3a series, nor Ironman outside of the US - hence the Subaru Ironman Canada. Oddly, there was no title sponsor signed for Tremblant, I would haver thought 'ru woud have taken it…

Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston is the title sponsor at IMTX, an exception to Ford in US

True. I think the original agreement was for 6 US races, plus Kona… not sure how it played out…
