Welcome Dinner Banquet Tickets
I believe they have these before all Ironman races. Are the meals worth 30 bones? Besides grub, what else goes on?

not worth the money for the food…typical mass prepared stuff which I avoid like the plague the night before an important race—too easy for some cook not to wash their hands and get a ton of people sick. it was nice to meet up with people though and somewhat inspirational as well.
The dinner is on the friday before the race not the night before. That being said, the food is as stated. Mass produced, but not terrible. The main value is in seeing and hearing the pros, seeing maybe an uplifting video or 2 and mainly drawing a little energy from the crowd. If you are a first time participant you should probably go. I’ve done 8 IMs and gone to about 4 dinners.
Only done one IM, and it was IMFL, but I did go to both the Welcome and Awards banquets because it was my first IM. I really enjoyed the whole thing…they show videos, give inspirational speeches to get you hyped up…very cool. The meal itself isn’t worth the money…just average buffet style fare, but the atmosphere makes up for it. Not sure my wife and daughter would agree. Probably boring for her.
I’m going to both banquets for IMC too. I figure with the 25th anniv. of that event, could be fun!
I found IMFL way too loud and the presentation boring and stupid. Not that there were a ton of great places to eat down there anyway, but still.
Was at my first in LP and unfortunetly only caught the end of it. I thought it was great. Tons of energy. I bet you are happy if you go.
