Ford Focus and bike transportation

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a Ford Focus sedan 2006 to transport their tri bike. Will it fit nicely inside or am i just better off buying a hitch for it? Getting the car from my father in-law, previously I had been driving a 2004 mustang with a hitch mount to get my bike around.

I have an 07 ZX5 and have no problems getting my bike in there. Of course my bike is pretty small, maybe if you let us know what size bike you have someone could give you a better answer.

The bike is a BMC TM02 size M-S
.

Probably have to take the front wheel off. I put a piece of foam over the small hump in front of the back seat and up to the armrest.

The car is not particularly wide, if I had a rear hitch I would use it often.

i have an 08’ focus ses. i usto take off wrong wheel and turned bars sideways and the fork would rub against the plastic and roughed it up a little. when traveling to and from group rides or races i have to shove everything in trunk when theres not that much space and if your running low on time you have to pack up car break downy he bike i found it not realistic due to cutting training short or not being able to.

i use the yakima double ace 2 bike mount comes in 4 as well and got a hitch for u-haul for 75$.

  1. won’t lose value due to scratching back seat
  2. won’t lose any space for if you wanna go to a race you can fit bikes on back and have people ride with you in backseat
  3. save a lot of time and convenience
  4. arent grid locked with your bike in the back seat and can’t do anything throughout the day like go shopping because theres no room

pro to backseat

if it rains it doesn’t matter.

can always put in there it begins to rain.

i ride a 2013 cervelo p2.

and here’s an even tougher challenge… I’m about to pick up a '14 Fiesta ST and I’ve got a 54cm P3 - think it’ll fit inside with the front wheel off?

What year p3? the new frame? Either way id guess not. Nor is it worth getting the backseat of a brand new car dirty risk scar thing and cutting fabric or getting grease.

Don’t know how big the Fiesta hatch is, but I have a '13 Focus Titanium Hatchback and can fit my 51cm P2 in it with the front wheel off and have plenty of room to spare.

The Fiesta is a fair bit narrower. 67" vs. 71".

I’d look at the OEM roof rack. It’s a Thule rack that’s $30 more than MSRP - i.e. your paying the dealership $30 to install a rack. Then hit up craigslist/ebay for a bike carrier.

I’m going to get a Fiesta ST in the near future, but I’ll be keeping my bikes/kayak on my big Volvo.
