we got rain on Monday - lots of rain. In some towns near me, up to 12 inches! Yesterday, I was on a group ride, we saw the effects. 14 bridges out, 5 dams failed. One town was a 10 foot lake. We rode into it from three different directions, trying to get around. Finally, we had to ride through a foot of water flowing over one road. WOW. Fortunately, no one was hurt. It’s amazing what weather can do.

We have had the wettest late-spring/early-summer in southern Ontario( Canada) in years. I have had to break my no-riding-in-the-rain rule a number of times this year.
It’s raining again today. I don’t think that we have had more than 2 - 3 days go by without substantial rain dating back to early May. I should not complain though, the three previous years where some of the driest on record and resevoirs, underground aquifers and the water-table had been at record lows.

Imagine the most severe downpour/thunderstorm, except that it went on for over 12 hours. They’re calling it a once in a thousand year storm.
Any issues for the Sunset Sprint Triathlon on 7/24 in Bridgeton?
Please send some of that rain to Alaska. We’ve had one of the dryest and hottest summers on record. 2.5 MILLION acres burned so far this year, fortunately no serious injuries or deaths from the fires.

I hope not. Unless it keeps raining, more is expected today. Bridgeton is about an hour south of here, I didn’t hear they had the same problem.

I was out there too. Lumberton, Vincentown, Kirby’s Mill – all had roads closed and floods. It was something.
where do you ride?
My short ride is an exact 20 miles - straight out Church Road to Vincentown and back. But now… who knows. I live in Mt. Laurel, home of… well, nothing.
do you ride with the outdoor club or around cooper river? I live in Cherry Hill, home of the mayor who lives in florida.

I stay clear of Cherry Hill and Cooper River – too many cars and poor roads. I’ll take the hick roads of Burlington County anyday. I usually ride alone - but often find others riding out there, too.
useless trivia - Mt. Laurel was the home of Alice Paul, one of the drivers behind a woman’s right to vote. Are you in the Sunset Sprint next week?
I’m doing Lake Placid next week - but I do plan on sprinting the entire race. (that should last about 100 yards or so). But Sunset Sprint is one of my favorites. Have fun.
I used to ride alone on the back roads, but I got paranoid of cars. Yesterday, we got cursed at by an older lady who had to drive around us as we sat by the side of the road, discussing which way we should go. OTH, we saw a herd of deer bounding across a field, pretty cool.
