Force v. Rival

I am having a new road bike built up and am torn between gruppos.

Traditionally, I have been an avid Campy user, but the price & weight differences with SRAMs offerings are making it awfully tempting to switch. However, I am uncertain if Force is too much or if Rival is too little.

My strength in triathlon is definitely the bike, so I spend far more time atop my road rig (Sandvik Ti frame with full Chorus gruppo) with local clubs than I do in training for the swim or the run. All the same, my new road bike will be somewhat modest (Cannondale CAAD9), due in large part to my limited budget. Still, I would rather not switch the 2003 Chorus gruppo from the Sandvik to the C-dale.

Yeah, I know I’m wanting it all and without paying for it but would like to hear some opinions/input about Force and Rival. Drop a line here if you’ve something informative to say. Thanks.//d

according to sram, and everyone else that I’ve heard talking about it. force and rival use the exact mechanicals, force has all that pretty black stuff though.

FYI once red comes out both force and rival will be going down in price
.

Force and Rival are exactly the same mechanically. Only difference is the fancy Ti and C bits on Force. Red is better, though, cuz I decided any sub-2kg group automatically trumps anything below it, even if they work the same.

ProBikeKit has

Shimano Dura Ace 7800 Double Groupset
for USD$859

hard to go past that for anything from Scram or Campag at that price
.

Sorry, I don’t do Shimano. Thanks for the FYI, though.//d
