When I was an officer in my HOA, parking turned out to be the number one issue, and like our politics, it divided folks down the middle pretty much. I fought the good fight, but have heard since I left, the parking nazis have taken over. That thread is hilarious, and it went national…
I read a few pages, but didn’t spend the time to read the 60 plus. You got clif notes past the guy saying that he was going to roll the car into his garage?

Read a good chunk of that thread… not all of it… but wonderfully entertaining. I actually knew a guy in Chicago that had a fake boot made so he could park on streets that required a parking permit. He would literally park his car and throw on the fake boot he kept in the back seat (if it was going to be parked for an extended period of time). Only took him about a minute and it looked very realistic. If a cop/meter maid went by they would assume someone else had already booted the vehicle (this was before they had the resources to run plates) and just carry on. An additional added benefit was that he never had his car stolen either.
Re HOAs, they’re generally a shit show in my experience. Incompetent at best and often corrupt. My parents live in a condo down in south Florida and my dad… who’s got quite the knack for spotting accounting irregularities and an uncanny “feel†for what things should cost… recently caught the president of their HOA embezzling money. A LOT of money. Last time I talked to him about it it was over $175,000 over the course of three years. He’s pretty sure the HOA also paid $20,000 in architectural and engineering fees for a board member who was rehabbing her unit.
If I ever move I’ll probably make avoiding an HOA a priority.
