I think the way you posted that link might make it difficult to follow it, how about this:
Just trying to help
.
Thanks

Those dirty rotten scum-sucking…
yawn
What was that thread about?
Ouch didn’t this comment hurt?
“Don’t you get it they are “Try-athletes” trying to be athletes.”
And we thought it was only the roadies and runners that hated us.
This was my personal favorite: “Triathlon: Why excel at one sport when you can be mediocre in 3?”
.
This was a real post on that thread, meant seriously by a guy named Lefty…
“The problem is, you can buy speed in the bike portion. If I switched bikes with Lance Armstrong he would have a hard time keeping up with me (and I am not saying that for effect. It really is true).”
Right.
Ouch, these guys are brutal. They obviously never swam at carlsbad masters in the early 90’s. Rob Mackel leading the fast lane, Wolfgang Deittrich, Simon Lessing, 2 or 3 other germans, and yours truly. A short course meter pool, and the 100 base was usually 1:15. Ya, the swimmers were pissed, but only because the fastest of them had to swim down to lane 2…
So much hatred…so few lanes. I had no idea triathletes were so abhorred. If I ever post that I want to join a masters swim group…SLAP ME!
I had no idea triathletes were so abhorred.
One poster actually said it quite well, “Maybe there’s a little jealousy here - I think a lot of us wish we could do the “other two” like we swim.”
.
too funny
“and, why if you ara a triathlete and doing your swim day, do you have to wear the ridiculous two piece man bikini? What is that bra top doing for you in the pool that iti is required to wear it?”
I’ve often wondered why triathletes show up in padded briefs or bike shorts for swim practice in January and I am no fish.
Very funny link,
Pat
Actually, my favorite was the one that said:
“I think if I could learn how to run or bike, I’m gonna show up at a triathlon and ride a moped for those two legs and call it legal cause there was a little headwind preventing me from biking or running on my own effectively.” Written by “Aquageek”.
Yeah, ummm, okay. You do that.
** If I ever post that I want to join a masters swim group…SLAP ME! **
Don’t hold this against all masters swim clubs. My club is about 1/2 triathletes and the other 1/2 volunteer for all the races…kj
Fair enough, but talk about a lack of sportsmanship…
Holy Crap…that John Smith guy appears to be the ring leader. Not only does he radiate hatred for triathletes but he oozes creepiness!!! Creep, creepy, creep, creep!

Right.
Lefty must own a tricycle with two flat tires.
I checked out the first few pages of the thread. Frankly, it didn’t seem that bad to me. A lot of it was tongue in cheek and many people actually said decent things about triathletes. To be honest, I don’t blame “pure” athletes (i.e. swimmers, roadies, runners) for sometimes making fun of us. As a group we generally tend to have a little more extra cash and goodies than people in other sports. We’re into new gadgets and toys, etc. Also, as far as the trading bikes with Lance Armstrong comment goes, I’m pretty sure if I had The Discovery Channel Team backing me up I could win the TDF too. In fact, I know I would.

I’m amazed how many of them come to our coach, pay 300 for a six pack of private lessons a month before their race, don’t swim more then a thousand yards two to three times a week, and theink their swimming is going to improve.
Forget the VO2Max Methinks I need to invent an under water ankle flexing kickcycle sell them for 5K a piece, rent a pool at the local 24 hour fitness and hold a bubble-cycle class!!!
LOL!!! C’mon it’s funny because it’s true.

Wow, that’s impressive! Which tem DID you ride with in the tour this year?
