P.S. This is a paid internship, but as we’re a small company, the pay will be meager. It may be enough to afford ramen noodles though (at least the chicken flavor, but possibly not beef or pork). We’re very open to work-study type of arrangements as well.
What, not bacon-flavored Ramen?
They should clearly list the compensation relative to how much bacon it will buy you. Ramen noodles? Seriously, if you had a couple bucks, would you buy a bunch of ramen noodles OR as much bacon as you could afford?
Rapp, seeing as your are in P-town now, where is the best place for a bacon and eggs breakfast? I’m going to need to know where to go when spectating later this month.
From an article on Julia Child and today’s cooking shows on TV by Michael Pollan in The New York Times Magazine (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/02/magazine/02cooking-t.html) in re gladiatorial-type cooking contest shows:
(If you ask me, the key to victory on any of these shows comes down to one factor: bacon. Whichever contestant puts bacon in the dish invariably seems to win.)
The article, while long, is really interesting.
Did I miss it, or did you never post the semi-mandatory “I changed my username thread?” If you’re not careful, a lot of people may just think there’s some new liberal jerk around here, and never even read your actual name in your posts.

In case you (or anyone else) is in Pittsburgh on Sept. 26 and interested in a bacon experience:

Vande Rose farms is providing the bar Artisan Dry Cured bacon to be used in a variety of bacon appetizers. A bakery will be offering a special bacon cupcake. There will also be a bacon eating contest for those who feel they have what it takes. I plan to compete (with my heart rate monitor of course, pacing is everything in a bacon eating contest). The bar has a great draft selection with about a dozen microbrews on tap- from Dogfish Head to Great Lakes to Bells to Flying Dog etc…
You haven’t had bacon until you’ve had Chocolate-covered bacon on a stick (at the Wisconsin State Fair). No lie:
Will chocolate-covered bacon sizzle? Newest fair treat makes its sweet and salty debut
By Karen Herzog of the Journal Sentinel

No racing pigs were harmed in the making of the Wisconsin State Fair’s hottest new food on a stick.
That’s right: Chocolate-covered bacon is finally here.
During the fair’s 11-day run, which begins Thursday, employees at the Machine Shed will work around the clock to keep up with demand - skewering bacon, baking it, cooling it and then dunking it in milk chocolate before sprinkling it with sea salt, said general manager Terry Waite.
The Machine Shed expects to sell 80,000 sticks of chocolate-covered bacon during the fair, fueled by media hype from ESPN, CNN and even Conan O’Brien’s opening monologue on “The Tonight Show” this week.
O’Brien joked that it’s “perfect for Wisconsin residents who are in the mood for something light.”
The salty-sweet bacon strip on a stick is bound to be the buzz among fairgoers gathered to root for the racing pigs one block from the Machine Shed stand.
But if the pig race announcer says the losers will become chocolate-covered bacon, don’t believe him.
We caught up with the owner of the pigs that race for Cheese Doodles and asked him to taste the sweet bacon on a stick Wednesday, as the pigs were warming up for their five-a-day race schedule.
Food on a stick: Chocolate-covered bacon
Location: Corner of Wetley Way and First St. across from We Energies Energy Park at State Fair Park in West Allis
Cost: Two sticks, one slice of bacon per stick, for $3
Volunteer eater: Brent Cook, 29, owner of Hogway Speedway Racing Pigs, Newton, N.C.
First impression: “Mmmm. Wow. This is an awesome combination of sweet and salty. Who knew? Just don’t tell the pigs. I don’t need them squealing on me.”
Degree of eating difficulty: “If you keep your hands off the chocolate, like I should have, it’s easy to eat.”
**Would you buy it? **“I hate that I didn’t come up with it myself. I’m taking this back to North Carolina.” Find this article at:

We were just talking about that a hour or so ago. Our county fair just opened up yesterday and that is one of the hits.
Also to debut at the Indiana State Fair starting Friday

If you see it, buy it. The smoked salt and bacon with the sweet chocolate…yum.

Uh, my house is the best place for a bacon & egg breakfast… Obviously. Now, whether or not you can get a table is a different story. Besides our own residence, Jill thinks the Black Bear Cafe on Westminster, just after you exit the highway coming into town from the North (across from the Sandman, approximately) is one of the best breakfast places.

Can I get a table for three for Friday, Aug 28th? Say 09:00? I don’t think paulo eats much bacon and I don’t really know the other guy - or if he’ll even join us, but better to have an unneeded place setting than not. I can bring freshly roasted coffee - you just need to let me know if you need it pre-ground (and how fine, which depends on your brewing methodology).
Austin now has an eatery serving bacon-infused alcoholic drinks:http://www.hotdogscoldbeer.com/drinks.html
Going tomorrow to try them out with some coworkers. Very excited.
well maybe we should have a celebration breakfast Monday morning. Remember Vikki (you fit her at Dan’s), this will be her first Ironman.
You’re going to make the guy cook for you the morning after he wins? Harsh…
Hey Jordan - are you gonna try and steal jonny’s title of “local athlete”?
WI State fair is close enough to my house I could run there and back to get some bacon and make it home before it was cold!
Yum!
