On April 24th Saturday at 9 AM the Oakland University Triathlon Club will host a one day seminar by coach and author Joe Friel.
As you already know, Joe is the author of “Going Long” along with Gordo Byrn and the “Triathlete’s Training Bible”.
Joe’s experience and insight is unique and unparalleled. For athletes in southeastern Michigan this will be a valuable day of learning and insight into our sport.
The Oakland University Triathlon Club is requesting a $40 donation for the seminar, which lasts from 9 am to 4 pm, with all proceeds defraying Joe’s costs and benefitting the Oakland University triathlon club.
Right on. I’ve done DWD(uses some of the same trails i’m assuming) a few times and just love the trails around there. Good luck to you too. Don’t break anything.
The Potowatami (sp??) 5-mile race is that morning; the half and full trail marathon are the next day. I’m doing the 5 miler as a prep for the Ann Arbor tri.
Thanks Tom for turning me on to this forum; now I’ll never get any work done:)
That sounds awesome. I would like to attend but have no idea how to get down there. Just moved to the area and live in Ferndale. Can anyone help with directions? Tom do you know how to get down there from Woodward and 9 mile? Thanks
Take Woodward north to I-696 East. I-696 East to I-75 North. I-75 North to University Dr. exit (exit # 79). Turn right (east) on University Dr. University Dr. runs right into Oakland University. Take first right after entering the traffic circle at main entrance there at University and Squirrel and just follw the signs to the Rec. Center. I’m assuming that the workshop will be held there. The link above didn’t mention another location.
Non student-members can pay at the door; however, we need to
know in advance if you are going so we can reserve you a
spot. The lecture will take place in 201 Dodge Hall of
Engineering. It starts at 9:00AM and ends at 4:00AM with an
one hour lunch intermission.
A campus map is here: http://www2.oakland.edu/map/
(Dodge Hall is on the west side of the campus, just southeast of the roundabout at the end of University dr)
