For Conservatives Only!

Well, not just conservatives, but it made for a good subject.

I’m looking for a conservative/Republican discussion forum that’s as thoughtful as the discussion on ST tends to be.

Right now I’m on conservativeforum.com but I’m not impressed with the discussion.

Cheers,
Brian

Why not like, look for discussion on people who are experts on the issues in question?

global warming, climatologist forum, finance, economics forum, sports, sabermetrics forum, etc

just an idea

Try the forum over at powerlineblog. Lots of sharp people there.

You’re dead-on.

I’m looking for people who are “expert” conservatives. I don’t have any conservative friends/family who can articulate their positions in detail.

Thanks for the suggestions. ST pulls through yet again.

PS: butclinton didn’t work. Google didn’t turn up anything either.

isn’t an “expert conservative” an oxymoron

What does it mean to be a conservative Republican? Please define.

Is that when you claim that government is bad, and yet you are the ones who are running it? Is it when you claim that you are a hawk and want to capture Osama, and yet can’t win a war in Iraq even with unlimited resources, time and money? Is it when you claim that you want to lower taxes, yet you raise spending so we have huge deficits? Or when you want to build a 700 mile fence to protect a 2100 mile border? when you want to illegally wiretap on citizens that have nothing to do with terrorism? When you want to sell our shipping ports to the muslims? When it’s OK to lie to americans?

I think the site you are looking for is www.iloveamerica.com/yetihateamericans

I think a “Conservative Republican” is identified whenever genuine inquiry is interpreted as an underhanded insult, an attempt to further a surreptitious liberal agenda, or as hatred of America.

It’s really remarkable how often this happens: misdirected, irrational rage by thoughtless ideologues from all points of the political spectrum (that means liberals, conservatives, socialists, etc.)

Hence my search for calmer, more thoughtful minds*
Brian

*That said, I just sent a hot-tempered e-mail to YaHey because I misread his e-mail, so now who’s the thoughtless ideologue? Sorry YaHey.

The guys you want to talk to are Art and big kahuna. Two of the smartest conservative Republicans around. I see that Art has already chimed in, and kahuna hasn’t logged on in about a week, but those are your go-to guys for this kind of thing.

I know that big kahuna sometimes links to pretty decent articles from freerepublic.com, if that helps.

I think my goal is to find a grand unifying theory for political discourse which is why I’m interested in forums.

My critical hypothesis is republicans and democrats agree on 99% of the fundamentals. The remaining 1% are incidentals they squabble over while the country is sold to corporations. So there is a vested interest in keeping people distracted over B.S. little issues so they never take notice of the fact that they’re being sold out by politicians from both sides.

But as long as we’re fat, happy, and fighting with the wrong people about incidentals the pillaging can continue.

Cheers,
Brian

PS: Still sorry about that e-mail, HeyYa! NEVER NEVER NEVER grocery shop hungry or e-mail when angry. UGH! I KNOW BETTER!!!

You are going to fit right in.

This is the best oxymoron I have heard all week. (Insert your favorite liberal “propaganda” slogans and rants here for the next thirty lines) Next, don’t let your buddies know you ride around in spandex, shave your legs, and get whiplash when driving by a guy like this on a bike bc "you weren’t looking at his butt, you were checking out his oversized downtube, i mean crankarm, i mean… (My wife gives me crap about that all the time). I hope this was “thoughtful” in that I played as nice as I could and gave some sound advice.
