can i use the front der shifter from a bike with 105-double on a bike with a triple front? it seems like there’s an appropriate number of indexing clicks when moving between chainrings on the double, i.e. two “up clicks” so 3 positions … or is there a difference between the indexing?
Maybe or maybe not. Don’t know in this specfic case but triple specific front derailleurs tend to have a bit more range. I have switched from a 105 triple crank in front to a double Ultegra crank in front without switching anything except front derailleur position and cable adjustment. I did not have to change the shifter. Did you mean shifter or derailleur?
i mean the shifter. i have a 105 sti (double), that i will be taking off a bike that is getting bar-ends, and a road bike that has a bad shifter for the front triple.
i would prefer to move the 105 over to the roadie, if it’ll work.
According to the Shimano website they’re both double and triple compatible.
ahh … thank you.
