For any one thinking of packing heat when riding

Just a heads-up for any one thinking of (or for those that already do) packing a gun while riding:

Check your local concealed-carry laws. I know it’s a-okay in Texas (like a whole 'nother country!). Chances are that it’s not okay in your state (without a permit).

Know how and when to use it. And the best way to use it is NOT to use it. It’ll be a great deterrant for some one that’s already nervous about a face-to-face confrontation, but if some one is TRULY incensed… And if you pull it, you’d DAMN well better be willing to pull the trigger.

Know how to handle it. Know where it’s going to fire, and what’s BEHIND your target.

I’m sure there are other pointers that I’m leaving out. I’m no expert, but if you’re going to carry, you’d better be doing so legally.

I’d prefer to install a gun rack on my bike and carry a rifle…that way I can stop and pick off any drivers who try to run me off the road
.

I’m fairly new to ST (about a year now), but it AMAZES me how much guns and bike riding comes up. Either we are an odd group of characters or Dorthy is knocking on my door…

The day I have to even remotely consider riding with a gun, somebody needs to shoot me, please!

Sure, but can you do this:

I am curious on the technique used to fire the gun…do you jump off the bike, go into a James Bond tuck and roll, aim at the target, and capooow! Or is it elbows on the armrests of your aerobars, aim while cycling and capooow! These are questions we Canadian’s do not have to ask.
