“1J1(e) As of January 1st, 2007, all bicycles and equipment used in Federation races must comply with the current UCI regulations.”
Looks like there will be a bunch of steep seat angle TT frames on ebay in a few months. Gary, I hope you can get 5 cm behind the BB on your new frame. So much for that new fitting at Bicyclesports.
Whenever I get pissed about how bad USAT is, I just look at USAC and realize it could be a lot worse.
Also older wheels that have not been impacted tested, Griffen frames (tube profile). and beam bikes. What the Hell were these guys thinking? Another great way to quell the grassroots Time Trial uprising from the triathlon pool. G

Not a problem for me as I ride ‘slammed’ on a shallow seat angle frame (74). I’ll look into the details of these new rules, I have not received my new USCF rulebook and cant seem to open the PDF copy online.

It’s probably going to be close so I would check if I were you - pull out a plumb line and a tape measure. You may need to run a seatpost with a lot of rear offset, or at least slide the seat all the way back on the rails. If you aren’t aware, the UCI rule is that the tip of the saddle must be at least 5cm behind the bottom bracket.
"is this for usa cycling only or also ACA? the guys in these races use whatever they want…26 front, 27 back in TT, tribars in road races (how dumb!!! not spinaccis…real tri bars…) etc… "
From the 2003 ACA Rulebook:
11.4.5 The handlebars and stem will not present a danger. Handlebar ends will be solidly plugged. Handlebar ends that point up or forward may not be used in mass start events except in Mountain Bike Events where handlebar extensions are allowed and shall also be solidly plugged.
So bar extensions are expressly prohibited in mass start ACA events. If you, in fact, did see them in use, why didn’t you inform the Chief Ref. You knew the rules, didn’t you?
This was clearly not within the rules (the rule for bar ends has been the same as long as ACA has been a permitting organization). I’m curious where you saw this. Was it an informal training series?

I would have never taken you for a Beastie Boy’s fan, Gary. Paul’s Boutique, no less. A classic. I guess I should know: you can’t judge a book…
Dude, if you are the John I think I know (you crashed recently in a little off road action around lake crabtree), you need to get off this forum. Way too many posts in too few days Hope you heal up real soon and get back to training!!!
Just get out the hacksaw and lop off the front of your saddle. That’s how Olano, Beloki, and many of Saiz boys do it. The get the seat forward where they want it, then cut it to the mm to make it legal.
Yep, it’s me. Thanks for the well wishes - I’m past ready to get the hell away from the computer and outside. The mind is willing but the hip is (still) weak.
