Football (the real game, not the NFL thing :-)

Thanks for the update. It’s ridiculous how long this is dragging out.

Agreed, throw the book at them.

Their fans on X are crying because it’s not fair. The charges are 10 years old, etc. Man City is responsible for 8 years of delays. Picked up 35 more charges due to it. The coverup needs to be punished harshly.

US vs. Peru are tied at halftime.

First look at the US since the WC, and it’s a new lineup and names. Pulisic, Ream, some othe familiar names are absent.

Ellis scored. Cavan Sullivan looks good. I’m optimistic… I think Pulisic isn’t permanently out, and Poch is evaluating newish talent.

4-1 win.

Eight teenagers on the field at the end. And a dominant second half. New crop of players look very promising.

Poch has a fun job ahead of him working with this group.

Canada beats Chile 1-0. David stays hot with the only goal in the first half. Chile ended up going down 2 players but Canada could never take advantage of it. A couple posts.

That’s a good result for Canada. Slew of international games were held during the global break from league play.

UEFA country tournament games were also on. I watched a bit of England v Spain. Or more accurately, I fell asleep with it on and woke up to the 3-2 scoreline in favor of Spain. I blame the long bike ride that morning.

As a Union fan I’ve been watching Caven for a while and hearing about him from dads who’s kids played in MLS next. He is going to be a star. He hides lack of top end speed by reading the game crazy well and having a great first couple of steps. Watching him just take it to full adults when he was 15, kid is fearless.

US and Canada meet up soon. That should be an interesting match.

It sounds pretty damning. Guilty on 114/115 charges or something like that. I’m also reading that its still unclear about what consequences or punishment should be.

Maybe that’ll drag on for another 10 years.

There are also clubs that are asking what their legal recourse is against Man

city, for things like missed sponsorship opportunities, missed silverware, and other issues. For instance, West ham would have stayed up this past season had the decision come down and points were applied for deduction that may have sent them down instead. To say it is a fucking mess is an understatement.

I really enjoyed watching the USMNT friendly vs Chile last night. It’s fun to see the young guys out there.

Julian Hall scored in his first 2 games. That’s a record for youngest USMNT player to score in back-to-back games.

Mathis Albert became the youngest goal scorer in USMNT history.

Cavan Sullivan subbed in late. He just turned 17 on Sept 28th.

The St Louis fans came out for the friendly. There were over 21K there.

Looking forward to this weekend’s friendly vs Mexico

If you want to call it that. Officially, it’s a friendly. On the pitch it’s always not vs. Mexico.
But worth watching.

On the Chile win, it did come to a brawl at the end.

I like what Tim Ream said about retiring from international play . . . “the kids are getting younger and younger”. Especially true with this crop of US players.

This is one of those scandals that the more and the closer you look… the worse it is.

Fun fact – the written report of the investigation has an index. The index itself spans 700+ pages!

Yeah, I was disappointed to see that. It looked like it all stemmed from Chile’s cheap shot on the keeper when he was down. Hopefully there won’t be any suspensions handed down.

Funny what you say about the friendly vs Mexico being not-so-friendly.

I hadn’t realized the information first came to light via a phishing email hack.

Canada won today, 2-0 over Peru. I missed it. I was golfing. Too nice of a day to stay in and there aren’t many golf days left here.

Canada did well. They have an upcoming match vs. the US this week.

Saw US beat Mexico 3-0 last night.

As expected, tempers flared in the second half resulting in a red card for Mexico. They get
easily frustrated when behind.

Second goal was terrible keeper’s mistake. Credit to 17 year old(!) Cavan Sullivan to capitalize. That’s a harder shot than it looks.

Our youth look good!

And over in the UEFA nations games, England looked very good following their loss to Spain with a 7-0 rout over Croatia.

Bellingham firing on all cylinders.

There’s a whole slate of international games underway… Norway vs. Portugal is probably today’s top billing later this afternoon.

I also watched last night, they look good.

Cavan’s finish was perfect, he’ll always remember that.

And Julian Hall scores again! That’s unbelievable to score in your first three caps. Yes, our youth looks fantastic.

Sorry I’m going to have to miss Norway v Portugal, could be really good.

Julian Hall has that natural striker’s instinct – where he “knows” where to be at the right times. Some say it’s luck, but I say it’s instinct.

His goal was an easy one to put away b/c he was perfectly positioned right there.
