Haaland’s on fire. Salah (and other Liverpool strikers) not so much.
Salah’s production’s been analyzed in the article that was posted earlier. Player mixes happen a lot so I don’t think it’s all due to not having TAA and Jota. I think it’s a bit of a regression to the mean following his new contract that was a long time coming. When a contract is up, players are just naturally more motivated to show well. And “relax” a bit when it’s all signed.
Was scanning the Championship tables and surprised to see Norwich is currently in the relegation zone. I expected to see them near the top there.
Seems like it wasn’t too long ago that they would get promoted to the EPL, then relegated, then promoted, etc. They’re going in the wrong direction at the moment.
That’s interesting. I do the same thing and check the Championship table occasionally. I’ve been following the EPL long enough that I recognize a lot of the teams. But it’s also interesting to see teams that I’m not familiar with–like Coventry City! If they keep it up, we’ll see them next season.
Interesting article thanks. I think that helps make more sense of the last two host countries–Qatar and Russia. Those two countries probably didn’t care if they lost money, it seemed to be more about the prestige of hosting the event.
I caught that game as well. It was exciting for them to the get the PK stop against Haaland, but it went downhill from there.
They’ve only played 11 games, so still a lot of football to be played.
I’m pretty sure I’m the only Sounders fan here, but I’ll tell the tale anyway. They had the 3rd leg against Minnesota on the road. It was on Apple+, so I was only able to follow the score online. It was looking great at halftime. They were up 2-1 and Minnesota had a red card. 10-men Minnesota scored twice in the second half, Seattle scored very late to tie at 3-3. Then Minnesota won on PK’s. Would have been a great game to watch, albeit with a bad ending for Sounders fans.
Ooh, that MLS game looks like it would have been exciting to watch. Regardless of allegiances. Especially since they go to PKs to declare a winner for each game.
May have to check out the latest playoff schedules/coverage.
Shitty footy weekend in my household. Liverpool look horrible. Leeds isn’t much bettter. And the KC Current had shitty luck with their #1 and #2 best offensive players injured (Chawinga and Cooper) effectively neutering their offense in a one and done playoff. Not the same team I went to see earlier this season. All around crappy weekend.
Oh and the USMNT have more injuries piling up ahead of the friendliest.
