Foot issues

I am having trouble with my left foot. Any ride over 45 minutes and it goes “dead” then gains feeling back when I start running which drives me crazy. I have switched to a wider shoe and still use look peddles and I am now out of ideas on how to correct this problem. Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers,

A couple possibilties come to mind:

  1. It’s march, depending on where you live, you might be lucky to only having your feet go numb.

  2. One of your legs may be a little longer than the other. (Having two legs with different lengths is pretty common.) If this is true you may be pedaling with a different part of your foot to componsate for the length difference. Since your riding “Looks” you ought to be able to get s shim for pretty cheap.

  3. Your shoe could be too big. (I doubt this is the problem, but it would be the easiest to diagnose.) Try putting on a thicker sock on your left foot and see if that helps.

  4. You may also be suffering from a lack of “gopher love.” This is a serious issue where you have seemingly innocent problems, that are caused by your undieing affection for a furry rodent of the net. There really is only one known cure, but I’m not at liberty to share it.

I guess that brings up another question. I have heard many conflicting options on how cycling shoes “should” fit. Some say there should be some movement or wiggling of the toes and I have also read that shoes should be very tight with no movement available. Commen sence leads me to belive that being able to move your toes would help with circulation but I am still undecided. Where are you on this topic? My current shoes are quite tight, with almost no movement when strapped up.

Thanks for your input.

I too believe in fashion over function.
