Food poisoning?

(yeah, I know…lots of luck lately…)
Ate eggs yesterday morning for breakfast (some eggwhites and one yolk). About 30’ later, I started feeling nauseous.
Same today. But no vomitting, no fever, no diarrhea…just nausea and feeling lethargic…

can this just be a mild case of food poisoning?

Uhh sounds lke food poisining… were the eggs cooked?
No vomiting at all?
Eat anything else unusual in the last couple of days?

Although it probably sounds like food poisining if this does not clear up in the next day or two you should get looked at. Lots of things present like food poisining but don’t clear up that quickly…

In the meanwhile be sure to drink gatorade and bland diet… no mexican

eggs were cooked but maybe not enough.
no vomitting. close a few times though.
ate some crab like meat yesterday as well…
but nausea started just after eating the eggs.

I meant the day before you got sick…

any chance you could be pregnant? (just kidding)

anyone else around you been sick
any diarrhea
no fevers at all
any chills
sweats

any abdominal pain
any blood in your stool
any dark tarry stools

any burnign/blood when you urinate

Anything you haev done that makes it better or worse

I thought (thinking for me is generally dangerous  food poisoning doesn’t kick in for 12-18 hours.

the day before I had fake crab meat.

I know I am not pregnant. I take the pill

noone sick around. no diarrhea, no fevers (at least I don’t think so), no chills, sweat yeah…but I always do when it’s 105f!
no abd. pain, no bllod in stool, no dark stools, no burning when urinating.

just weak and nauseous

Honestly I think you have a virus… not a really great story for food poisining. If I had to bet I would say you caught a virus and you started to feel like shit after you ate…

My advice is take it easy. Bland diet… no coffee… until you feel better. If you don’t feel better or especially if you start feeling much worse, develop shaking chills, intractable vomiting, and or diarrhea… go see your doctor (as if you needed me to tell you this last part) Also go to your doctor if you still feel concerned.

which virus?

(just kidding… )

Are you sure you are not pregnant…

The rate of immaculate conception is alarmingly high in the emergency department… This week we have already had two

.

Most of the time, what you ate right before you got sick was not the cause. Even the fastest ‘food poisoning’ would be a Staph toxin, and that would take at least a few hours, up to 18 or 24 hours. Salmonella can be 6 hours, but is usually 24-48h. so this was likely due to the food from the night before, or 1-2 days before, or it was a virus.
