Food for Fitness?

Anybody read Chris Carmichael"s “Food for Fitness” book? I need to drop some weight over the winter and was wondering if this would be helpful.

Thanks
Ed

Its not going to help you drop weight. That’s not really the focus of the book. It does do an excellent job at getting you to focus on the right foods, with the right percentages of Carbs, protein, fat, etc based on the annual training phase that you are in.

I read the book last spring. I thought it was pretty good. If your already pretty knowledgeable about food and nutrition then you might not get much out of it but for the rest of us I think it’s a good resource. I can’t remember if it had anything about losing weight or not. It did talk a lot about the nutritional needs of an athletes and the best food to eat to get the most out of your training. It’s only $11 on Amazon so it’s definitely worth that. I’m planning on skimming through it again this winter.

I bought it this past week.

I found that the information in it on the surface contradicts a lot of what Gordo’s book and the Training Bible say.

But if you look below the surface of both at what they are really saying, they are very similar. “Food for fitness” just is able to expand more on it.

Great book IMO. Another good one is the Nutrition for Endurance Athletes book.
