Fonts for Illustrator - Mac Fonts vs. PC fonts :(

I have an Illustrator file that uses some fonts that my computer doesn’t have. I have the fonts in a seperate folders, provided to me by the guy that made those graphics for me. But I can’t install those as those are most likely Mac fonts.

Is there a way to convert Mac fonts to PC fonts?

Or does anybody have the following complete font sets for a PC that they are willing to send me in an email?

  • Keeple
  • Helvetica

Thanks.

What you are asking isn’t legal. You can find substitutes and when Illustrator opens the file you can choose to replace the originals with the substitues.

Unless it’s what’s called an OpenType font, there’s no way to convert the font format from Mac to PC (some formats play nicely on both platforms, some don’t) I’m not going to comment on the legality of getting someone to give you those fonts, but if you can’t track down the fonts, you can do one of two things:

You can replace the fonts with a font that you do have - Helvetica can be replaced with Arial or another sans-serif font, I don’t know about Keeple. When you open the document and it brings up that window that tells you it’s missing those fonts there’s a button that says “Find Font” or something similar. Click that and then select from the drop down menu the font you want to use and hit change all.

or

You can ask the designer/person who created the document to convert the type to outline. This is less desirable because you lose the ability to edit the text, but if you really like the font and don’t anticipate editing it, then it’s a way to go.

Good luck!

Go to www.ascenderfonts.com Spend a few bucks and buy your fonts.

Thanks for the link. I have no problem paying for fonts, but all the font sites I visited that were for-pay didn’t have the Keeple font. I finally found it on a free site. Thanks though.

Thank you. I know about subsitute fonts but this is for the printing of packaging and I need the exact fonts.

Thanks for the link. I did find the fonts yesterday and tried to install it but I couldn’t get it to work. I guess I was overworked and didn’t recognize that they were zipped files, so no wonder it didn’t work. But they look like regular files these days, what happened to the good old days when compressed files actually looked compressed…

Thanks for all the help everybody, I now have it all solved.
