the answer my friend, is blowin’ in the wind…
Although she doesn’t qualify as a folksinger, Alanis Morrisette did/does tris
.
What about Celebrity Triathletes in general. Didn’t Tom Selleck do one in an episode of Magnum ? Errrr…Prince Albert of Monaco has done a few. Anybody else…???
Me.
But I’m no Pete Seeger.
stefan holzner is a pretty good accordion player!
it’s german “volksmusik” though (which is not everybodies taste)
I know a widely published poet and a somewhat ex-punk rocker that does tris.
Ahem.
jeezus, you guys are a lot of help.
Huh…I have the answer !! Anybody heard of John Kelly ? He was from an Irish / German Family Folk Band (Osmans / Jacksons etc.) based out of Hamburg I believe. Absolutely huge in the early to mid. 90’s. For people with no idea about German pop I cannot really explain his notoriety. Possibly similar to a Justin Timberlake ?? Anyway…a fairly big celeb. and definitely with folk singer status. In 2000 I went 9:30 in Zurich and he passed me at some point on the run. Ross.
You looking for some Fixapalooza nightly entertainment?
the guy you mean is joey kelly - are you shure that he went sub 9.30? i know that he did 8 or 9 ironman races in one year but that fast??
We could check somewhere. I know my mates gave me some serious s*** because I was beat by a f***** singer. You’re right…it’s Joey. But I’m sure u agree that he was a Folk Singer. Ross.
Not a singer, but, me on the other stuff… ![]()
I play fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. I grew up in a bluegrass family. Been playing fiddle since I was 5 (31 now.)

If it weren’t for the “widely published” part, that could be me as well.
Why ? Why, why, why…do u need to know about Folk Singer Triathletes ?
I have seen him play and he is more of a bluesman than folk singer. But I think he has done a triathlon or two. And who is the guy who wrote and performed “Tinleys at the finish line, haven’t started the marathon blues”? Aloha G
I know what this is all about.
Dan, you’ve re-written the folk based “Wheels On THe Bus” song and need somebody to play it.
“The Wheels On The Bike Go Round And Round”—By Dan Empfield
“…The arms in the water go round and round, round and round, round and round. The arms in the water go round and round, all 2 miles long…”
“then (COME ON EVERYBODY JOIN WITH ME)…”
“The wheels on the bike go round and round, round and round, round and round, all 112 miles long…”
“then…(COME ON EVERYONE OVER HERE IN T-1)…”
“The knees on the ground, go pound, pound, pound…pound, pound, pound, …”

Jack Johnson w/ G-Love I believe
he WAS a folk singer - thank god!!!
that music always made me envy autriches who can just stick their heads in the sand …
IM Switzerland 1998: 10.50
IM New Zealand 1998: 11.57
sebBo…OK …I believe u. But possibly the only genuine pop / folk star to get genuinely involved in Ironman. Ross.
