Flying with bike to IM W Australia

I flew my bike into Perth from Vancouver via LAX via Auckland on AirNZ. Never a charge, never a squawk about size or weight. Used a standard hard case. AirNZ rocks.

Re: Qantas, I seriously doubt they care about the 3" width overage, they are going to care about the weight. Just pack it light-ish.

Love that race (2005). Enjoy!

On the Qantas website, on the bike page, it says max of 70#. But on another page, it says anything over 50# gets an additional charge.

So, can I pack my bike to 70# without an additional charge, or try to keep it under 50#?

I’m going to be traveling with 2 suitcases and the bike box, so I’m going to be charged for an extra bag.

Up to 23kg per item is free (might be charge for more than 2 bags), individual bags over 23 kg carries excess weight charge, up to maximum weight limit of 32kg. So they will accept a bag to 70 lb (32kg) but it will attract excess weight charges.

Hope the jet lag doesnt wreck you too badly! Very flat bike/run.
