don’t bother unless you are risky
.
probably not. last two years I did and I didn’t feel too good for a while afterwards. (timing, possibly, but quite frankly, I’ve only had a “flu” once…)
Never have. Keep the immune sys. strong the natural way.
Noni juice
Old Indian Syrup
Acupuncture
Plenty of sleep/antioxidants/and of course, hand washing.
Never have, never will. It has been recommended by my dad’s specialist (MS) that none of his immediate relatives have one. There is no proven causal relationship between the flu shot and MS, but there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that it can trigger symptoms in someone who previously never had any. My dad being an excellent example. Within an hour of receiving his first ever flu shot (provided for free at work) he started having symptoms. He’s never been able to work since.
I’ve also never had the flu in my life.
Nope and I never get the flu. Of course, I will now X-(
I didn’t get one last year because the my small-town Doc didn’t get any. There was some around in nearby towns, but I felt that I would be taking it away from high risk folks.
I usually do get one. It is not a guarantee that you won’t get sick. I’m no MD but my understanding is that there is some forecasting involved in deciding which strains are going to be the hot item for flu season. They have to make up the vaccine in advance so it is a bit like predicting the weather.
I’m not getting one and haven’t in a few years. Last time I had one I got the flue 2 months later.
Why would I want to get a flu shot? I seem to get the flu every year all on my own. ![]()
Nope. Never have. Free for all Ontario residents and also being offered free at the workplace. But I have no interest in getting a needle. Hate them with a passion. I just don’t get sick.
Yes. Except last year.
I don’t see why not? Of course (as you’ve seen) it’s not foolproof. But it helps.
I hate when people say “It’s stupid. It only contains 3 strains…you’re not immune…”. Well no shit, sherlock. But if you do run up against one of the 3 in the vaccine, and you don’t have an immunity, it will help.
Plus, I take the bus/train every day. Work out at the gym every day. So there’s a good chance that if something is going around, I’ll be exposed.
No! For the last four years while I was in the military it was MANDATORY that we get our flu shots. And almost every time I ended up getting really sick. Now that I’m free to choose, I’m not getting one.
Yep, I get 'em. Required to by workplace. I’d get them even if they weren’t required, because I like to get stuck with needles…just not in the eye (although, I have had Lasik Surgery). In fact, I like getting stuck with needles so much I self-drained my pre-patella bursa twice before having a doctor do it and inject it with a steroid…his idea is working better than mine…but, I may go stick it a time or two just for fun.
WHAT? You triathletes training like madmen all the time are off your rocker more than me! ![]()
Have no choice, being in the Navy we are mandated, unless of course you are allergic. If I didn’t have to, I probably wouldn’t, I don’t usually get sick…of course I do have an 8-month old at home, so for her sake I might get one for the peace of mind that I may reduce the risk of bringing something home to her.
Never do. I live in Weird Disease Vector Central (aka an area with a lot of well-traveled active duty military) and instead of getting whatever strain of flu the rest of America gets, we get the version that’s been floating around Uzbekistan. So if it’s not gonna cover the right flu, what’s the point?
As a college coah we get them for free, so I get one. The last three years I did not have one available and i get the flu each year, but at a previous school that I coached at and as a college athlete I got one and never got more then a sniffle.
No - I got the flu mist spray instead! Free at work. I figure I ride the train to/from work, have a pregnant wife, and there wasn’t any real downside. Just popped a couple zicams afterwards and was good to go!
