I just signed up for this event as I like to camp, I like Lake Lousia State Park, and I like Triathlons. Sounds like fun.
I 'm wondering why the distances are shorter this year. Not that I mind - I don’t mind a bit. Just wondering…
We shortened the swim and run portions of the race to fit the bike ride. Also to allow more athlete to participate. The 1.5 mile swim was keeping lots of people away from the event. Lake Louisa State Park is GREAT and a perfect place for the triathlon. See you on March 11th. Z
i think this will be my first event of the year
.
march 11 huh… i wonder if thats my spring break… too bad thats a freakin long drive from iowa.

thanks Z . got my campsite reserved. this will be fun.
Tomziebart, I hate to see you shortened the swim and the run. The early season 1.5 mile swim is what drew me to the race last year! In fact the 8 mile run was perfect! That’s where I started passing a lot of people. It’s going to be hard to justify driving 7 hours down there and paying $85 to do a sprint with probably 300 more people. How about giving an option of doing the same distance as last year?
Thanks,
Rex
I totally agree with ironmanrex! I likely now will take this race OUT of my schedule, I have enough sprint races I can do locally. The longer swim and run were the things that attracted me to this race. Too bad…
Totally agree with the prior posters. I did the race last year and was planning on doing it in 2007 until I learned that the distances are shorter. There is no way I am going to drive 4 hours to do a short triathlon.
I hope there is a way to accomodate everyone…
Does this race normally sell out? I plan on doing it but was going to sign up first of the year. I don’t want to miss my chance though…
Good to hear the shortened race is turning people away. More chance of me getting a slot to Frisco!
We have never sold out the race, but we will have to cap it at about 500 as the transition will not hold anymore. We have about 100 signed up right now. Z
please make the swim course a triangle this year, instead of a straight out and back. there were obvious course cutters, including the 45 yr old who swam the near fastest time…beating a field of top pros.
