I am going to be in the Ocala, Invernes, Crsytal River area of Florida and am looking to rent a road bike, any reccommendations on places that may rent a bike? Or how about gyms that have spin bikes? I’m also looking for a pool I can get some workouts in at?
If you can find a “Y”, it will have spin bikes, treadmills, possibly a pool. Couple years ago I was in the Tampa Area, bought a 1 week membership for about $25 or so…
I myself live in Crystal River. if your in that area, suncoast bikes rents a few out. in ocala, santos bikes rents speciallized and giant. as far as pools go, check out too your health spa, they have gyms in ocal and dunnellon. feel free to contact me if you have any more questions.

Swim open water if you can. The beach at the end of Fort Island Trail in Crystal River is perfect. Basically a protected lagoon in the Gulf of Mexico. The water is salty/brackish and shallow. You can do 150m repeats beach to beach. Watch the tide and oyster bars. No guards this time of year. Second choice would be Rainbow Springs in Dunellon. There is a natural spring, clean, clear, pristine open fresh water pool. Do both if you can.
There are some great country roads but easy to get lost. The main roads are dangerous. Best bet is the Withlacooche State Trail for a road ride. 42 miles one way, Citrus Springs to Brookville. It’s safe, smooth, and scenic. If you want a MTB ride check out Santos. It’s epic.
Also do yourself a favor. You will only be a 50 min drive to Clermont. The National Training Center is a must see for any Triathlete visiting Central Florida. You can swim bike run from their parking lot.
