Florida Ironman 70.3 Entry

Ironman 70.3 is an oxymoron…

Am I totally inept (yes) b/c I can’t find any definitive info about entry for this race. Maybe it doesn’t exist yet but I thought I’d throw this our here.

I live in Texas and am looking for a WTC sponsored 70.3 AND Ironman event for my wife and I to participate in in the summer/fall of 2006. Of course we’d like to do the 70.3 about 6 months before the IM, but you know…Any suggestions from any of you. Arizona and Florida seem like the obvious choices but I’d love some advice.

I don’t have an answer exactly, but maybe I can clarify…

I haven’t been paying too much attention to the “70.3” name change. What you’re looking for is what was formerly the Flordia Half Ironman, the one at Disney World? If so, the web site www.flordiahalfironman.com says the date is 5/21/06, and it says that entry info will be announced soon (can’t see the links with Netscape 7.0, can with Internet Explorer).

Are you interested in the “Ford Ironman 70.3 Florida” or the "World Championship in Nov. 2006?

Buffalo Springs will be one of the races in the series.

The championship in Florida is probably going to be in Clearwater (according to the Clearwater paper) and since it has no permits or anything yet, the dates won’t be settled for a while.

The whole thing just got announced, it will be a bit beforew the details are published.

WTC’s press release seemed to indicate that the florida 70.3 will only be open to people that qualify at another 70.3 race. We’ll just have to wait for all the final details.

I’m waiting for more news on the Baja 70.3 in Ensenada in Feb 05.

No doubt you’ve noticed by now, but registration is open as of late Friday afternoon. (8 July 2005).
