Florida 70.3 Bike Course - winds and wheelset?

Hi all,

I was wondering if there are strong winds on the Florida 70.3 bike course. I’ve done IM Florida before in PCB and some of the cross winds were pretty strong. However, given that Orlando is further away from the Gulf, I’d imagine any winds from that area would be lower. My guess could be wrong.

I’ve got a set of 85mm deep carbon wheels, although I might opt to go 85mm deep in the rear and 43mm (Spinergy aero front, not the fourspoke) in the front if the winds are known to be strong. I’m 5’9", 150 lbs or so.

Any advice?

Cheers

Bump,

As I’d be interested too…

you certainly won’t get a seabreeeze on orlando similar to PCB. Any wind will be a function of regional weather conditions and as an economist I am not good enough to forecast that out several weeks. Sound like the deeper wheels should be no problem. -I have done FL70.3 2x and dont remember any winds either time—actually a nicde breeze on the run would be good to tone down the probable hot/humid weather

i’m going 80mm front and back in florida
.

You never can predict the weather, but go deep. I did the first one and very little wind. That time of year in Orlando, not much wind, just pray for overcast on the run.

Go full throttle badass…
