I recently installed a set of Aero-Concept Genesis aerobars. The stem is integrated. I was using a VT clip-on on a set of VT base bars. I ride with the aerobars tilted down slightly. Don’t even start with the “this is not the way…” BS. I’ve been rding like this for many years and it works for me.
I was out today and decided after 14 miles to try flipping the s-bends over. They actually curve perfectly to my arms like this. I like the hands below the elbow thing. The elbow pads and regular mounted s-bends had my hands too high (level).
Anyone ever try this? I rode the rest of the ride like this and found it MUCH better then level. Pretty friggin bizzare looking, upside down and rotated inward, but it worked.
I went from s-bends to straight extensions - not quite the same thing, but my hands are lover than my elbows. I like it a lot, and it works well for me.
I just measured it as I was adjusting the shifters straight again. Its about a 16cm drop on this one. My other Zipp is about 17.5cm. I’ll be lowering this one as I get used to the new aerobars to the normal 17.5. With my 37" inseam and very long arms and short torso, the back is still not flat. The seat tip is about 4cm in front of the BB. I just moved it 1cm back when I put these bars on.
