Flats without a cutout arch?

This may be more directed to the crowd that uses flats for most/all training. Any one is welcome to answer.

I have a pair of Nike Waffle Racer 3’s that I’ve been using for races (and some training) for almost 2 years. They’ve still got some life in them, so I’m not ditching them. But I’m looking for something akin to these but without the cutaway arch. I just wanted a pair of shoes to have here at work to run on the trails during my lunch “hour” (okay, it’s more like an hour and a half). I’d like to stay on the less expensive side as well. I know that Eastbay is having a 20% off sale (and the Waffle Racer 4’s are going for $35 regularly), so I may just suck it up and get those, and I know that you can find the Nike Waffle Racer II’s on ebay… Just looking for some other options. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I recently started using the Brooks ST Racer 2, which does not have a cutaway arch. It does have a short segment of higher density medial midsole, but that is the only motion control feature. (Even then, it is not much.) I suspect that if you do not want the cutaway arch, the medial support may be welcome.

Weight wise, I think they are advertised as about an 8oz shoe. So far, I like them…
