I’m doing a 70.3 this weekend. A buddy just gave me a can of Vittoria “pit stop” and said if i carry it along i dont need to bring a spare tube, tools etc. because i can just spray this goo in the tire and finish the race. anyone have any experience with this stuff?
I carry it, but haven’t had to use it. I too have a HIM this weekend. It’ll be on board with me, but I’d carry a spare as well.
www.bikesportmichigan.com has a good review.
I wouldn’t trust my 70.3 race on this alone. I would try it first and if it doesn’t seal then you have to change the tube.
Advantage is if it does work you have a quick and easy flat repair.
Have a great race.
i was thinking of carrying a c02 cartridge also…so if the tire gets sealed but isnt as inflated as i would like, i can “tune it up”
.
Any good info on how to use this on a disc wheel?
it’s really hard to use on a disk… I tried with a crack pipe and without and couldn’t get it to work. I’d personally skip it on a disk, sorry, I had high hopes too… Then again, I’m really tempted to try it again but don’t have another crap tubular to sacrifice to test it.
another option is to use it prophylacticly. if you are really concerned about a flat in the race and the time to fix it put in pit stop of flatfix a few days before the race. this should greatly reduce the chance of a flat and it only adds a few grams to the weight. i’m sure rolling resistance is increased a little but not as much as the time to fix a flat costs (for most people). you’d still want to bring a spare, just in case. but it is an option.
