Since wheels seems to be one of the topics of discussion, which a Flash Point 60 or a Hed 3 would you recomend with a renn disc and a p2c? Definitely going with clincher and I can get either at about the same cost new.
I also have been looking at some used wheels but both wheels are going used for almost the price of a new wheel. I remember Hed having some problems with hubs in the 2006 and prior year models, does anyone remember if it was with the front or rear wheels?
I’ve used HED3’s for many years. Both with and without discs. You can’t go wrong with the HED3. However, I’ve recently changed to a HED Jet90 front. For no other reason then just to try something different. I’ve ridden it for a few training rides and a race this past weekend. The Jet90 is far more forgiving in the front then the horizonally stiff HED3. It was much more comfortable and, I believe, just as fast or faster. I had one of my best bike splits ever with the Jet90 front instead of the HED3.
I have no experience with the Falshpoints. I’m just saying the spoked wheels are a more comfortable ride in the front. And sometimes comfortable = faster.
You might have some bounce with H3’s while on a bike stand, but riding they’re beautiful and fast. I’m a touch biased because I will be running a 575 and H3 this season on my p2c…
thx Zipp and 2Wheels. I should have said I currently ride a hed 3 and renn on a 650 p2k. I did not know the spoked wheel would be more comfy so thanks. I generally like to hold my bikes and race wheels for 5 years so I plan on keeping what ever I decide to go with for a while so I appreciate your insights. I too am slanted to the H3 since it has been a bom proof wheel but like other things you always wonder if their is something better out thier.
