Fizik Arione Tri Carbon Saddle NOT Compatible with P3C?

Another boring equipment compatibility question here – but I really need some help. I have just ordered the Fizik Arione Tri 2 saddle with the braided carbon rails, but someone has just alleged that this saddle is not compatible with the P3C saddle clamp. (I have the 2006 P3C with the older/original type seatpost, different from the IAA seatpost on current P3Cs.) Can anyone confirm or disprove? Anyone riding this saddle on his/her P3C without any issues? Many thanks.

I want that same saddle as well and also have a P3C (2007), I did read online somewhere that it’s not caompatible with the P3C seatpost but I have not tried it out. I am curious to hear what others have experienced. I did a search on ST and there was some mention of the thicker and non-round carbon rails creating issues for some seatposts.

Mine works fine, not got the bike anymore, but when did no worries. Worked on all variants of Arione TRI, 1, 2, Carbon and the new one which i dont know the name of.

Sorry no pics to back up

I bought the same saddle, and had to sell it. The rails are oval rather than round, and will not work properly in proprietary clamps that completely surround the rail, as was the case with my Guru Crono carbon aero post. It might be ‘made’ to work, but I’m sure it’s not recommended and may damage the rails. The oval rails are designed to work with clamps that contact just the top and bottom of the rail. As was the case with my post, when the clamp was secured, the rail is 100% surrounded, and the opening through which the rail will pass is round, not oval, hence the incompatibility.

FWIW I don’t think the carbon rails are recommended or compatible due to their shape. But, shocker here, why not call Cervelo?

Bob

I bought the Arione carbon-railed saddle and it did not fit my p2C (same post as your p3c.) Cervelo and Fizik both confirmed that the saddle will NOT fit. I think the Arione has 7mm-tall rails, while the seat clamp is designed for the standard 5mm-tall rails. It wasn’t even close to fitting. Dont try and make it fit, it won’t work. Sell the seat on ebay.

Well…you just save me 250 dollars. Thanks!

Thanks for the input – that’s a bummer. I’ll check with Cervelo before I get rid of it, but based on all the replies I have a feeling that the saddle will show up on eBay soon. Might have to go with the Ti rails version instead…

Email Cervelo customer service, Chris over there is super helpful.

I seriously doubt you lose ANYTHING going with ti rails.

That said, I’ve got the Arione Carbon on my Soloist, and it works just fine with the old-style clamp and the carbon rails. I’ll take it for my new p3sl if you like!

If you had a Felt DA, you wouldn’t have this problem
I have the both (carbon rails and Ti Rails) Carbon is very thick plus covered with kevlar tape, I think a lot of bikes will have compatibility issues. Go with the Ti rails (if it fits) there is no weight diffeence.
