I am in the market for a new saddle for my tri bike and would like to hear what you have to say about the Fizik Arione. I currently have a Selle San Marco Azoto on the bike, but I am not that pleased with it and the bulbous nose shape causes me to move around quite a bit. I have Selle San Marco Eras on my road bikes and I am extremely pleased with them. However, when I put one on my tri bike and put in some miles in the aero position, it was clear to me the Era is not a feasible nor comfortable tri option (at least for me). I have heard and read numerous good things about the Arione, but would like to hear from the ST crowd.
I love it as well. I have it on my road bike and my tri bike. I have had a lot of saddles in my life and this is the first time that I have had the same saddle on both bikes. Again, it is very individual. What works for me might not work for you.
Best saddle I’ve owned. Don’t expect plush Cadillac comfort but where this saddle shines is that I don’t ever think about my butt on long rides. That’s not the case for any other saddle I owned.
i have both the road and tri versions…personally i prefer the road so have just switched out my tri bike. Very comfortable even for long periods in aero bars.
hate it. the idiot that put stitching on the nose of a saddle needs to be shot.
Well, I really like mine, but I must agree that the stitching job is a bit shoddy. Lots of people, or rather, people who ride lots, seem to complain of the cover tearing away up near the nose. I’ve been told “they are aware of the problem”, yet they won’t hook you up with a new saddle unless you can show specifically that the glue failed as opposed to it just being a case of wear ‘n’ tear. Whatever, I still like it, it just looks a bit ragged now.
Don’t know if this makes me a wuss or not, but I ride my Arione with a neoprene saddle cover. I agree that riding the saddle ‘bare’ is just fine, but with the cover I never feel a stitch.
I’ve been riding the Fizik Arione with a DeSoto padded seat cover and found it to be okay. But then I got the new Profile Design Tri Stryke and have been really pleased with it. I’ve been doing tris for 19 years and this is the most comfortable saddle I have used. I’ve done 70 and 80 mile rides in the aero postiton with no problems. I also like the lycra cover on the front. It’s real easy to slide back and forth. Which comes in handy for me because central PA has lots of rolling hills.
