I can’t help you with the bike, but I will say I have done business with the seller before with very positive results.

I’m not seeing anything that is throwing up red flags. Looks like a solid fixie, with a nice flip flop hub that can be a lifesaver if you decide to go out a little toooo far.

Of course, I would recommend investing in a Surly Tugnutt… for one primary reason: bottle opener! …used only in times of emergency.

Have fun with it!

Either way, you will have to take off at least the rear brake or else someone will snigger. Also, those bars on the cannondale look all wrong on a fixie IMO

Whatever you get, it will be a blast. Nothing like riding a fixie for keeping your interest in cycling (and your attention!)

cool, ill get one for whatever bike i get.

btw - i also live in arlington, near clarendon metro.

This appears to be the same as the Windsor “The Hour” fixie. The components are the same and the frame appears to be also. I bought a Windsor for $299 that’s what it’s worth. Ignore the $795 retail claim; only an idiot would pay anything close to that. This one has brakes so that saves you some time and money installing them. The frame size might be center to top so watch out for that. It’s only a couple cm difference though. Also the tires are probably crap. The tires on mine were Kendra and after 400 miles or so the rubber was worn through.

I enjoy riding it and feel like I got my moneys worth.

I’ve been riding a fixie a lot this winter and for some reason it just puts a smile on my face. I have no idea why but maybe because it strips cycling back to just its bear basics of just riding ?

If you can get it for a couple hundred bucks it could *possibly *be worthwhile, but I’m always suspect of advertisements that mention “high quality components” but never name them. The only thing explicitly named was the crankset - and even then there’s no model, just Truvativ. Also, the claim that the wheelset is “much better than that most commonly found on track bikes” screams BS and someone who doesn’t know jack about track cyclists. I’d wager that the wheels on most rental fleet bikes at my local velodrome would be better than whatever unnamed hubs come with that bike.

Remember that this is NOT the Motobecane of old - this is some new company that bought the name and is using it to mass produce bargain priced bikes of all sorts.

For my money, I’d look towards a Bianchi Pista.

yeah, i have looked at those, the chrome is great. there are a ton around town though. i think the choice is coming down to the bianchi or the c’dale. i like them both for different reasons.

I bought a similar bike from this same seller. It’s a Mercier Kilo TT, and it was a steal at less than $340 shipped. The Mercier is setup as more of a track bike, as it didn’t come with brakes or bottle cage bosses. All the components have held up well, even the wheels/hubs, which aren’t the greatest. I’m pretty sure the Motobecane comes with the same component set. I use mine as a commuter and I really put it through its paces. I lock it up outside (it’s got rained on a couple of times), and I ride it through some terrible roads. It’s really pretty bombproof.

She sells a ton of bikes on eBay, and the service was excellent. I got the bike within a couple of days, and it was shipped/packed expertly.

If you’re looking for a beater/commuter, go for the eBay bike for under $400. If you want something to take to the track and do some serious rides, go for the Cannondale at $800.
