Fix My Fit

Some STers helped with my fine tuning my Speed Concept, but now I need help with my fit on a Caad10.

6’/32" inseam I ride a Medium speed concept, but this bike is a 56. I feel really uncomfortable on this bike. I feel right at home on the speed concept, but I feel like I get no power whatsoever on this bike. On the speed concept I an forward, fast, and powerful… On this I am way too far back, trying to reach way too far, and feel like I’m leaving so much of my strength on the table. I was thinking about getting a shorter stem (I think it has like a 100mm on there now) and slamming it. Also, the saddle is as far forward as it is “suggested” it go.

Your help is very much appreciated and I apologize for the awful video quality.

it looks like you stem is to short to me…also rotate those bars down.

but its hard to tell from the vid, its to short to get a look at the “real” riding position. you are looking and moving all around in the vid…make one about 5 mins long from that angle and the one from the back so you can see your hips and shoulders.

You’re doing what everyone who is uncomfortable on a road bike does, slam the seat forward and bring the bars closer and up; which actually makes the bike more uncomfortable because you put lots of weight on your hands and youre super scrunched through the torso.

Your seat should be far enough back that while riding on the trainer in the drops you can take your hands off the bars and hold the position(not fall forward). Having enough weight on your ass will allow a more comfortable and lower position. And with some adaptation time, power and speed.

Dan has a great article with some calculations on road bike fit. Try using those to get more in the ballpark.
