Fitting of a Cervelo P3C

Hi,

I am new to the forum and have a question I am hoping someone may be able to help with. I currently ride a 54cm Cervelo Solist Team and are thinking of ordering a P3 Carbon. Question is would I be the same frame size? I would have thought the answer would be yes, but would be interested in hearing from any one who could throw some light on this.

Thanks

I don’t know how the Cervélo sizing is, but I currently own an Argon18 Mercury in size 56, which is the same size as my roadbike (Trek 1200). The Argon is a bit to the large-ish side, so I tend to think that a size smaller would be perfect.

Just my 2 cents

The best thing to do is go get a tri position fitting. We find that there really is no “set” way to go… (i.e. one size smaller, same size, etc.)

Your tri position will be much different from your road so there really is no accurate way to determine frame size without some sort of fitting.

There are lots of posts on here (several from me and a poster named cyclonehockey) mentioning that the P2C and P3C seem to fit a size smaller than you would expect.

I am not saying to order a 51 or whatever over the internet based on this alone, but be aware of it and don’t be suprised if you end up in a smaller frame size than you might have expected.

FWIW, I am a little over 6’ tall and fit the 54 in both bikes very well.

Same as him 54 on the soloist and on the P3C.

Agreed - I ride 56cm road bikes, and my P2C is a tad too big. And that’s because Cervelo top tubes are too long for the majority of riders.

Thanks for the advice, I am a 6" as well and really thought that a 56 would have been right with the solist. Having the seat post reversed on the Solist 54cm with a 120 stem is just perfect. I might look at a fitting to be safe but the 54 sould like it might be about right.

Regards

Yeah i have a lot of drop for a road bike too but a 56 would have been way too long.

My $.02 and another data point… I am 6’4" with 36" inseam. My P3c = 56cm with an extra long seat post. I was fitted for Soloist = 58cm with “normal” sized parts. I “fit” into the “one size smaller for a P3” theory.

YMMV, MoJoe
(side note: also ride 59cm QR TiPhoone, with 85mm stem and Fast Forward post)

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am hoping to pull the trigger on a new R3 in the next day or two.

So you are a 54 on your Soloist and P3C? After having originally been on a 58 P3C? I know I am a 54 on the P2C or P3C, but I seemed to think that was because Cervelo’s carbon tri bikes fit a littl big and was almost sure I would be a 56 on the R3. I am wondering if I should be considering the 54 for the road bike as well?

I hate a bike that fits too big, but I don’t want a midget bike either.
