Just got some new tri shoes that actually fit. My old one’s were a couple sizes too large. They got they job done but looking for a better fit for more comfort, potentially more power. I moved from sidi T2 46 (12 US) to Fizik Transiro 44 (10.75 US). Shoes feel fine but now it feels like my saddle feels too high. I really liked my position with my old shoes and dont want to effect that by lowering saddle. Any suggestions on adjustments? Move saddle forward? Shorter cranks? Please let me know.
I’m unsure a change in bike shoe is a logical predecessor to needing shorter cranks. How much can the stack height possibly differ between two sets of bicycle shoes? I mean, flats vs platform boots, well sure. But bicycle shoes?
If you need shorter cranks, that’s fine. I just don’t see shoes as being the reason.
Assuming your cleats are in the same relative position - and that this isn’t satire - I’d think saddle height might get a small adjustment.
(Not a fitter, just quick to the keyboard tonight. Good luck.)
When comparing the shoes heel to heel, the new shoes are about a half inch shorter from heel to top of cleat. I agree new cranks is overkill, just in the market. Does anyone know if moving saddle forward will help this?
Wow, 1/2 an inch sounds substantial.
I’m interested in your post at any rate, as I also just got new shoes for my TT bike. I don’t know about stack difference (though I assume the Bonts are lower than the LG they replace) but I also moved my cleats back, which may make my saddle a bit high. But it’s hard to be objective since my legs were fried from playing field hockey before I went out to bike, and my quads were all crampy.
