Fit Question - How *Should* my arms be angled?

Firstly, I have been fit before, but have always moved around pad fore-aft, width, extension length, etc…trying to find the most comfortable position.

What should my arms look like when in aero?

Looking at several pics, it looks like upper arm to forearm should be about 90degrees, maybe a bit more reached out.

And then the aerobar pad looks like it should rest somewhere around the back 1/3rd of your forearm.

And after that, do you want the shifter body to be about at the end of your thumb?

Moving to a new bike, trying to decide how long to cut extensions.
Obviously there is a bit of room for personal fit, but wondering what protocol is.
