I have been out of the game awhile and looking to get back in. I was FIST fitted by JT over at moment cycles ports a few years ago. I don’t remember my fit numbers but I do know that the 58 p3/ L Ridley Dean were my ideal fits. I rode the 58 p3 for awhile and loved it, I was using it with zipp vukas at the time. I have the opportunity to buy a 56 p4 at a great price. Is it a big deal to ride a size smaller than ideal? I know the newer aero bars have spacer options. To complicate things I am 5’11 and rode very steep which is why I matched up well with the 58 p3, but I was in a horrible car accident two years ago and fractured my spine in two spots. I think I have recovered well but my doc is telling me to avoid excessive bending, do you think my fit will change? I am rambling at this point, I apologize.

the difference is 2cm of height and 1cm of length. so it depends. but these are already low bikes, so, if you were struggling to get the bike high enough on a 58cm, and you need 2cm more height, and you may also not be able to bend over as well, i wonder if you’re looking at the right bike.

really, it’s probably a better fit for you. look in the classifieds. but if not that one, something else that’s similarly less likely to give you fits trying to get the bars high enough.

you were only running a 5mm spacer under the stem? then you have some room to maneuver. what was the pitch of the stem, what kind of aerobars?
Yeah, just the top cap. I don’t recall the pitch. Aerobars were zipp vuka
zipp vuka, old style, that’s 4cm from center of the stem clamp to the top of the pad. a nice new profile T3 + carbon, 6cm. so that makes up for the difference in height. 10cm stem the same pitch as the 9cm stem you did ride, that bar or a bar like it, you’re in biz with that 56cm P4. just don’t be a hood ornament next time.
