You may have a bone to pick with Dan but doing business on a public forum isn’t going to win you any friends or resolve your problem amicably.
Hi Paul,
I’m not speaking for Dan, only he can do that. However, I saw him last week at Interbike and he was extremely busy there with multiple commitments. I could barely get a few moments to exchange friendly banter and humor.
This week I wager he is either in Kona already, or on his way there. Additionally, I surmise (correctly or incorrectly) that Dan is doing some substantial review and replacement of his dealers listing to update the information. That, along with the work of adding new editorial content every few days along with his current travel schedule is a big work load.
My experience with Dan is that he is an industrious and honorable guy with a lot of ideas swirling around in his head and a silly smile on his face.
He’ll get to it. It might take him some time, but he’ll get to it. It may be worth remembering, this website is a tremendous amount of work on his part.

What was your investment?
I am not looking to resolve things amicably.
I paid for a service.
My business has not been recommended as was agreed.
WOW!! Good for you, you have made a definite impression on me as to how you run your business. I am sure any STer’s in your area will bear this in mind as well. Have a nice day.
I hear you Paul,
Again, I can’t speak for Dan. I may respectfully suggest this is a matter best determined between you two fellas. I am a big fan of, and friend to Dan, so I have lot of faith in the guy.
I know it will get resolved in the appropriate manner.
Best of luck my friend,
Tom.
Paul, I don’t mean to be inflammatory here, but let me illustrate a couple points:
Dan:
-Arguably invented the tri bike as we know it. By doing so he created a livlihood for me (selling and fitting tri bikes) and made my favorite hobby (triathlons) more fun.
-Arguably invented the triathlon wetsuit. I am a rotten swimmer. The sport was a lot less enjoyable for me before good wetsuits came along.
-Introduced the use of the web in marketing triathlon products to triathletes. I beleive he may have had the first manufacturer’s website specific to triathlons and assisted in the first dealer website for a triathlon store if I remember correctly, Mission Bay’s.
-Has compiled statistics for studies on triathlon equipment used in Kona and other races for years. Thisiis a resource to the industry and consumers.
-Voluntarily serves on the board of USAT.
-Produces this website when he could just walk his dogs and do whatever it is he and Mark and the other guys do out there in the desert.
-Initiated the first program for “standardizing” or spreading the understanding of triathlon specific bike fit.
-Forged alliances with manufactures all over the world to produce better triathlon equipment.
-Started one of the largest and still the oldest operating triathlon specific bike and wetsuit company, Quintana Roo.
-Consulted to countless retailers, athletes, race directors and sponsors to the sport.
-Written substantial literature for virtually every major triathlon publication.
-Tested equipment for manufaturers and consulted on design.
-A bunch of other stuff I don’t know about.
-Earned a spot in the Triathlon Hall of Fame.
In my book, it earns respect and credibility.
I understand Paul, no worries.
This reply was not to Tom, but someone with wooden shoes…
That would be me although there is no reply?? Took a spin by your website. If you are so unhappy with Dan as to publicly slander him on his own board no less, would it not be incumbent on you to stop using FIST and Slowtwitch as references on your website.?
Well Tom seems to have been pretty polite. Though you seem to have a problem with Dan,…A smart ass with with Tom too? …Spent $2000 traveling for a class that was worth $600. Is that like buying a bike for $600 and paying $2000 for shipping? After being in retail for 25yrs,your way of dealing with this problem is in correct. Maybe pm Dan. If you have already done so, well at least be patient from what you heard after posting here than being disrespectful to those who have tried to help. If Mr. Emphield (sp?) does unethical behavior to you, he will answer in the long term. If you took a $600 class to make money and not help your clients well that speaks to something also. Kenney
Well it seems while I was typing, you answered to Tom and others. My props to you. I understand your slight. Is this the place to get the results you want? As to your site, you did IMH and then Ultraman within one month…Damn, hope the IMH was a training run. With proper training, would you recommend doing an IM a month before Ultraman? I am thinking of jumping to Ultra’s next year but that seems a bit much…Thanks

My apologies, it’s defamation not slander as above. By definition or not you are using a public medium to resolve (although I wonder if that’s what you are doing here) a private dispute. Yes I saw your initial post, same thing applies to you, go back and read my initial post. I still maintain that using a certification from a person and or company after a defamatory attack on said persons character will appear ridiculous at best on your part. As you said to kenney this list is a waste of time…don’t go away mad…just go away.
Dude,
You must be an idiot. Slowman Dan has forged just about every alliance there is to have in this sport. Not to mention just a helluva guy. Having Dan on, beside or anywhere but against you would have been a smarter move. Don’t think your going to get the support/publicity you were looking for on this forum.
Hey, congrats on all of your athletic accomplishments…your website sucks!
Would have been better off dumping the $2,600.00 into a website I can read or know where to start.
Sorry EAB, re-read the posts, at no time has anyone called in to question PF’s credentials. You and PF are missing the point, if Paul has a beef with Dan then handle it man to man not in public. If Dan does not respond to e-mails as PF alleges then phone, send a registered letter etc.
Now, this probably isn’t necessary but since I think you took this too far I will now hunt you at every opportunity. After fumbling for a bit through the maze you call a website I noticed an almost unforgivable error. Ready, pay attention, here goes…
Julie Moss turned the triathlon world on it’s ear with her “crawl” in 1982, not 1984. You noted this as being your “motivation” for getting your fat ass in shape. At least get it right.
Maybe Julie should email, phone, or slander your name on a public forum until you change it to the right year.
Sheezh…
“Testosterone Gone Wild” coming to a video store near you.
