…and did it feel great despite being as weak as a kitten. I was laid up for the past 14 days with a flu/chest cough and couldn’t do any exercise without severe hacking. I’ve still got a bit of the cough but am on the mend. Did about 35 kms over lunch at moderate pace and of course got soaked in a thunderstorm for the last 10 kms.
Hopefully I’ll get my previous fitness level back in a few weeks.
Anybody else ever been sick for this long? How long does it take to get back?
Glad you are back in the saddle C-guy.
cerveloguy,
good to hear that you’re back… to your question. I’ve read a lot on that and I hear it’s highly individual. However believe or not, a very popular school of thought is that 14 days off is when you START to lose fitness. So if you’re significantly weaker, it might be a sign to ease up on the throttle a bit (your body be still re-couping) Simple and said a lot, but listen to your body, you will only go downhill if you try to soldier through (that’s how I had a sinus infection that hung too long a few winters back). Good luck!
P.S. thanks for your advice on the neutral post with my Giant TCR carbon a number of months back. I’m riding strong so far and my tranny runs have been excellent.
