Last weekend I had the first pro race of my career at 70.3 FL in Haines City. I ended up 8th overall and was pretty happy with the result after a brutal Chicago winter. Here is the link to the race report/ weekend recap: http://justinmetzlertriathlete.blogspot.com/...man-703-florida.html
I would love to get thoughts/ opinions/ comments from some slowtwitcher’s, so let me know what you think!
Also, here are the Strava files from my bike and run files if you are interested in some numbers. Feel free to ask any questions.

Great race!! It was perfect weather for a Florida race. I was about 800 finishers behind you so I couldn’t give you any tips other than enjoy the experience at every race, no matter the finish times.
Nice job and great run! How old are you? You look really young in yours pictures so it looks like you have a lot of room for improvement over the next couple of years. Look forward to seeing more results.
Although Memphis went well, I really had my eyes set on Eagleman which was this past weekend. I grabbed 10th place overall against an incredibly stacked field on a day that absolutely present its fair share of challenges. Here is the link to my blog post about the race: http://justinmetzlertriathlete.blogspot.com/2014/06/2014-703-eagleman.html.
That T1 looked like a mess in the first race. Great run at Eagleman too, 1:18 on a bad day is a great run. Awesome to see somebody the same age ripping it up. Good luck in your next races I’ll be looking forward to seeing how you go.

Thanks for tuning in and following along.

Nice race at Memphis, I’ve done that race 5 times with no rain but you got lucky this year:) Looks like you were pretty even in your race: if I counted correctly, and excluding relays, it looks like you were 7th on the swim, 4th on the bike, and 5th on the run, then 5th overall. Can’t get much more even than that. Do you come from a swim/run background??? In the pic of you relaxing in the chair, I noticed that your feet were pretty much in the “pointed toe” position, even when just relaxed, which is generally a dead giveaway of a former fish:)
The TT start suited my strengths and you are correct, I was 7th on the swim, 4th on the bike and 5th on the run for 5th overall.
I actually do not come from a swimming, cycling or running background. I’ve been doing triathlons right from the start when I was 13 years old. Back then, I was just doing it for fun and looking to finish! (if i could run a 30:00 5k when I started, I was stoked- so I’ve come a long way since then)
Not sure about the pointed toe theory. It may have just been the way I was sitting in the picture. But, I am 6 foot 4 in (all in the legs!) so they tend to go in all different types of directions

Ah, a true triathlete then:) Regarding your toes pointing, do you find it easy and natural to kick in the pool, i.e. are you a strong kicker or do you hate it??? A small minority, perhaps 10% at most, of the overall population has this ability naturally, whereas most do not. A person can still swim very fast w/o a strong kick, and certainly fast enough for tri’s, but among national level swimmers it is the kick that often separates the very good from the really good:)
