First IM Lanza; Am I crazy or not?

Hi Guys,

Like to now your opinion about this thread.

Doing this crazy sport for 4 years now. Done all the Olympics and 1/2 for these years and wanted to do an IM in 2005.

Due to an shoulder operation my season is lost but looking at 2006 I want to do IM Lanza for my first IM.

Is this a crazy thing to do, knowing it’s the toughest around? I only want to finish this race and I’m a BOP’er doing 5.15’ on an half IM.

Like to hear your opinion about this!

Thanks in advance!

Dood, you are NOT a BOPer with a 5:15 1/2IM time. Sorry. Many of us true BOPers yearn for that kind of time.

Go ahead and do IM-Lanza, you’ll do far far better than most of us folks…

Damn… and here I was thinking I was MOP (well… BOMOP) with a sub 6 1/2IM. Given that the winners finished in 4 and change and the last person across was just shy of 8:30, I think I get to call myself MOP.

This dude’s FOMOP for sure.

Hmmm. Certainly something to be said for jumping in at the deep end of the pool.

I say give’er. And good luck to you.

I didn’t do the race this year but I shared an apartment with a few guys who did. For one of them, it was his first triathlon. He finished, a gibbering wreck in 12:20ish, and things can only get better for him now. The other turned up not knowing what Bento Boxes were for, and finished in 11:00ish. I’m happy to have shared space with two such talented bastards.
