My wife has her first HIM (Timberman) coming up. Over the past three weeks she has been getting pain in the Peronius area of the foot. She made if for about 45 minutes or so in her long run on Sunday then had to back off and walk. I have been adamant that she stay off of it for about two weeks (at least running). She has no trouble walking or cycling, a little minor discomfort though if she has to walk a lot. The last three weeks in regards to her long runs have been 1 hour had to stop, walked for about 30 minutes to get back to the car. She took my advice and took off the next week. Then she ran 45 minutes Sunday. She has hit her shorter runs with out a lot of discomfort. But again, I have been telling her to take off an just bag the runs for a couple weeks.
We have 4 weeks until the race, what are your suggestions as to training. I have suggested water running for this week and next week and maybe feel it out from there. Possibly to get one last long run in. She has been icing, taking ibuprofen and using a ball on the area.
Her background for this year is a Half Mary in May, 10K on July 4th and she has gotten three of four long runs of 1:30 in over the past couple months, plus several sprint tris (4 or 5). Her goal is just to finish.
Thanks for any help you can give.
