Any tips for a rookies first alcatraz?
Any suggesttion for good/cheap places to eat and must see places to visit close to the race site and fishermans wharf? Staying at Hotel De Sol and wont be renting a car.

Stayed at Hotel Del Sol last year. Very nice. We didn’t rent a car either.
There is a shopping street just up the hill from the hotel with lots of eating places on it which was very convenient.
Maybe you should define cheap.

A trip to Alcatraz (onto the island) and the tour is interesting. Everyone goes to Lombard Street and rides the cable cars. Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge is fun. A coffee and dinner in North Beach is a weekly must for me. Walking through Chinatown. Shopping, if you or the wife are into that. All can be done by walking/cable car/bus, though you’ll need a ferry for Alcatraz. Ferry over to Sausalito too.
